Compare cultural business norms in the United States and China in the business appearance, behavior, and communication. In the United States, the cultural is influence by the location of an area how business is done. In the United States there are laws written to mandates the requirement of any business and the work ethic that good, honest, hard work is rewarded. In China, the business culture does not depend on money and every individual are treated fairly. China believe that both parties have to be faith full and if the business is one sided the company will not grow, and they believe that any company maintain it word then they can be sure to be a business part for the rest of his or her lives. In business, the United States Appearance an individual most wear business suit and tie are appropriate in all major cities. Wear dark colored business suits in classic colors of gray and navy. United States Behavior in business conversation may take place during meals. However, many times you will find more social conversation taking place during the actual meal. United States Communications an individual most offer a firm handshake, lasting 3-5 seconds, upon greeting and leaving. Maintain good eye contact during your handshake. If you are meeting several people at once, maintain eye contact with the person you are shaking hands with, until you are moving on the next person. Appearance in China an individual wear conservative suits for men with subtle colors are the norm. Behavior & Manners in China an individual do not use large hand movements. The Chinese do not speak with their hands. Your movements may be distracting to your host. Personal contact must be avoided at all cost.
