Tulane Medical School was founded in 1834 by seven physicians it is the 15th oldest medical school in the United States and the second oldest in the south.

Tulane hospital opened its doors in 1976 as the Tulane Hospital and Clinic after careful research Tulane hospital purchased Lakeside Hospital in 2005 renaming the hospital Tulane Lakeside Hospital.

The hospital has changed over the years they have added a new restaurant and a coffee shop to accommodate its growing staff, patients and visitors of their facility.

Tulane decided to add the coffee shop after hurricane Katrina, they consulted the planning comity, and they visit other hospital in the area. They receive bids on the coffee shop and after carefully researching they accepted the bid from Greens berry’s coffee shop.

The hospital had to ensure that the market for a coffee shop would be profitable for the hospital and the area. LSU does not have a restaurant, University does not serve hot food, and Charity hospital has not re-opened after hurricane Katrina. Therefore, the market for Tulane to open this new store was an excellent decision.

The success of Green berry’s coffee shop has involved into the hospital opening a smoothie shop, and Wow Winggery restaurant. The employee’s and visitors has a choice of eatery restaurants.

The hospital caters to the local businesses in the area, because we have easy access to our facility there are several eatery outlets, we serve hot food, we offer specials, some of the local businesses and hospitals in the area do not have restaurants and there is little to no wait time for service. We also opened and sauté station we serve specials Tuesday through Wednesday giving our patriots’ another option.
