Media Violence Promotes Violent Behavior

Identify if the topic you chose—as presented by both articles—is a problem or an issue, and explain what makes it a problem or an issue. If you believe the articles present both problems and issues, identify and explain what the problems are and what the issues are. In the first article, “The Role of Media Violence Crime Has Been Exaggerated”, this article deals with the issues of media violence influence in today’s society. It states, despite all the studies on the effect of media violence, the author, maintains it is impossible to separate the affects of media violence from all the factors that can influence aggressive and violent behavior. However, this article offered no solution just more issues. In the second article, “Media Violence Promotes Violent Behavior”, this deals with the problem and also gives some solutions on how to limit the effects of media violence. The author states, that we should limit the exposure of how much aggressive and violent behavior we see or hear.

Were the problems or issues expressed effectively? Describe how the problems or issues were or were not best expressed. In the article, “The Role of Media Violence in Violent Crime Has Been Exaggerated”, the issues was not expressed effectively. It showed the personal opinion and not enough research information to back up the issues that the author was trying to communicate to the audience. It showed no validity or truth in what she was saying. In the second article, “Media Violence Promotes Violent Behavior”, the author was effective in his expression of facts and reliable solutions. He showed validity and truth in the way he communicated with his audience.
