I come across this article when I was doing the discussion questions in week three and found it very interesting. It fell into the guidelines of this assignment, and I decided to use it to explain how confidentiality can affect an array of individuals.

This article affects the population within the health care facility and the individuals involved only. It’s ethical and moral outcome can affect those that hear about it and change how employee’s personal information can be an issue between patient confidentiality and patient care. To have a clear understanding of what the dialogue above is all about, let me enlighten you on the situation at hand. Michele is a MPN which is a master’s prepared nurse that has worked in administration for three years. Karen is the nursing administrator of the flexible staffing pool and a colleague of Michele’s. Karen and Michele have learned to work with each other over the years and have always had conflicting opinions on issues related to quality care. According to Badzek, Mitchell, and Marra (1998), Michele has brought a number of problems concerning the ability of the flexible staff pool nurses to function on the surgical unit to Karen’s attention without suitable resolutions. Karen’s staff is assigned randomly throughout the facilities’ units, making it hard to supervise and evaluate the quality of care he or she is giving to their patients. These issues become a bigger issue when Jackie a 43year old with a BPN (Bachelor’s Prepared Nurse) comes into the facility. Jackie worked in a hospital facility for several years after completing college and later quit to be a stay at home mom until her two daughters were old enough to attend school. Jackie did work with home care part time and found it quite satisfying while still being able to take care of her children....
