OPPOSITION AND SUPPORT OF THE NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND REFORM

Abstract

Assesment of the current status of the No Child Left Behind reform has met much opposition and support countrywide. The No Child Left Behind reform atempts to ensure that all children recieve the highest standard of education. Emphasis has been placed on the minority and impoverished student population in much of the debate over the annual yearly progrss statistics. There has been difficulty with measurement standards.Many changes are being proposed that would help the reform and research continues.

Opposition and Support of the No Child Left Behind Reform

The No Child Left Behind reform requires all states to meet certain standards in mathmatics,reading, and science. Each state is to develop assessments to determine whether students are meeting these standards.The No Child Left Behind reform holds each state accountable for improving the quality of education for all students.The reform was to close the gap of achievement between low and high students. A primary focus of No Child Left Behind is minority students and students considered under advantaged.The reform hopes to gauge it's sucess through state assesments.The assesments are to determine if students are meeting state academic requirements as well as grade level expectations.
