1.1 In reading the author’s preface, what do you learn about the formulation and development of a worldview?

The development of a world view is a continual process. By the time a current worldview develops, it seems, another one starts. People develop their world view by asking theological questions about life, such as the eight questions outlined in this 1st chapter.

1.2 What is the author’s bias in regard to worldview? Is this a bad thing?

Sire admittedly reports that his book is biased with a Christian worldview. He also states that it is a very difficult process to write a book on such a topic without throwing in one's own beliefs. No, it is not a bad thing. The purpose of a book like this is to further develop the thoughts about life for the reader. If he wrote an unbiased book, it would have little value in developing a Christian worldview.

1.3 In Chapter 1 the author states that this book is about the struggle to discover three things. What are those three things?

1.4 How long will this process take?

This is a process that takes a lifetime.

1.5 According to the author, who has a worldview?

Sire states that everyone has a worldview.

1.6 What is the author’s definition/description of a worldview?

Sire's definition..."A worldview is a commitment, a fundamental orientation of the heart, that can be expressed as a story or in a set of presuppositions (assumptions which may be true, partially true, or entirely false) that we hold (consciously or subconsciously, consistently or inconsistently) about the basic constitution of reality, and that provides the foundation on which we live and move and have our being.”

1.7 What are the “Seven Basic Questions” of worldview?

The 5th edition adds the eighth question.

1. What is prime reality – the really real?

2. What is the nature of external reality, that is, the world around us?

3. What is a human being?

4. What...
