Online Shopping versus Brick-and-Mortar Shopping
Shopping is a necessity of life. Everyone has to do it at one time or another. Some consumers
still choose to shop the traditional brick-and-mortar way, while others prefer to do their shopping
online. Online shopping has advantages and benefits that traditional brick-and mortar shopping
cannot provide. Some of the factors that consumers list as having the most important influence
on their shopping include convenience, pricing, and selection.
When shopping the traditional brick-and-mortar way, convenience has taken a back seat. There
are several things that have to be dealt with, such as crowds, lack of parking spaces, and specific
hours that the stores are open. However, if you choose to shop online, none of these things are a
problem. To start, you do not even have to get dressed because you can do your shopping in you
pajamas if you prefer. You do not have to worry about leaving home early so that you will get a
good parking spot. You will also avoid fighting with the crowd to try to ensure that you get the
last one of that specific item that you made the trip to purchase. There will be no need to rush to
get to the store before closing because the online stores are open 24 hours a day, seven days a
week, even on holidays. Online shopping is also more convenient for sick, disabled, or home
bound people, and mothers with small children with no baby-sitter. Another convenience of
online shopping is that you do not have to worry about the weather. Dressing in light clothing to
stay cool, wearing a heavy coat to stay warm, and trying to keep up with an umbrella when it is
raining would not be things that you would have to worry about.
Compared to online shopping, traditional brick-and-mortar shopping takes more money and
time. More money is spent because you have to put gas in your car in order to drive to the store.
