Passion

There is a well-known saying at Rhodes College, “first you have to survive and then to thrive.” I believe the biggest factor which causes the difference between these two states is passion. I am passionate for always challenging myself beyond the limit and achieve something better.

I joined the A.S.I.A. student club in my freshman year. The A.S.I.A group was founded five years ago. Because Rhodes College began to acquire international students since 2007, there were not a lot of international students around. Although the founder at that time named the club as A.S.I.A., actually it is a family for all international and American students. In my sophomore year, I participated in the election process and was selected as one of the officers of A.S.I.A. Most of the board members of A.S.I.A. were actually Asians born in America. As the only Chinese officer in the team, I am acquainted with Asian culture, especially China and Japan. I feel obligated to make some changes to A.S.I.A. in order to promote it in front of the public.

I spent a lot of time taking good pictures to document every performance and sticking them on the posters to present on campus. Also, it was a great pleasure to process the photos one by one with software and upload them onto the Facebook homepage. It was the first time that the A.S.I.A showed up in the semi-annual Sack Fair with well-made posters with various photos of catching shoot. With the posters, I had recruited the most members during the two hours’ event.

There are two events I designed which I want to address, fashion show and Sushi Night. The fashion show is for girls to walk and pose...
