ABSTRACT

The overwhelming influence of IPR and Advertising and its prevalence in the mass media indicates that IPR and Advertising plays major role in combating global terrorism. This paper captures the role of IPR and Advertising in the fight against global terrorism and it examines specifically the roles IPR play in creating goodwill and understanding and portraying the good image of nation states around the world.

INTRODUCTION

The 21st century has witness the emergence or resurgence of terrorist horrendous activities on a global scale. The theater of the absurd portrayed by the notorious act of global terrorism can not be quantified. From the terrible ordeals wreak on Afghans by the Taliban, to cunning the and inhuman treatment caused by the hash-kar-e-taiber of Pakistan, the act of terrorism as failed to restrict or bound itself to a particular state, continent or region.

Today, people all over the globe no longer feel safe even in their own beds. Gone are the days when people would sleep with both eyes closed and their minds at rest. For instance, in Nigeria, there are the cases of kidnapping in the Niger Delta area which disrupts the operations of the multinational oil companies there. Also, the Boko Haram insurgence in the Northern part of the country is a constraint to trade, industry and movement of people and goods and services. The United Nations building in Abuja which was bombed in 2012 was a terrorist attack the September 11 attack on the world trade centre in New York, USA by the Al-Qaeda terrorist group .
