Borderline Personality Disorder

Borderline Personality Disorder is a personality disorder that affects many in modern day society. Although there is no specific cause for this disorder it is real. It affects both male and females and shows up in early adulthood and is commonly founded in females. Since it is seen more in woman it is said that hormones may play a big part in the development of this disorder. Border Line Personality Disorder also known as BPD is a disorder that affects ones interpersonal relationships with others in all aspects of life. It affects relationships at home work and in the person’s personal life.

A person with BDP cannot maintain a functioning relationship with anyone; they have very angry outburst lasting long periods of time and are likely to be involved in physical confrontations. The person has low self-worth and partakes in binge eating, binge shopping and are known to be very promiscuous. Some have even gone as far as self-mutilation. The person is also known for having extreme opinions and will change their perception of others quickly. The fact that the person with BPD is angered easily and cannot control their anger makes it extremely difficult for them to have a stable relationship of any kind. This type of behavior has been linked to lack of communication as a child, neglect, sexual abuse and a traumatic event that interrupted a normal child hood.

Having BPD is not the end of the world. Once diagnosed, with the proper treatment one can manage to lead a productive life. Through intensive therapy and medication many are able to maintain a healthy relationship with others. BPD is a disorder that can be passed down from parent to child and without the proper treatment can be detrimental to the person with the disorder and the ones they love.
