Social Responsibility

Proponents of corporate social responsibility (CSR) as a means of improving the behavior of the corporate sector often assume that the corporations will improve their behavior because of the damage to their brand image of actions considered reprehensible by the majority of consumers. The greater the distance between producers and consumers the lower the level of commitment to social responsibility (Arthur, Cato, Keenoy, Smith, 2007).

Every business that employs people and contributes to the lives of consumers has a social responsibility to make profits. In order for businesses to stay in business they have to be profitable. We all know that expenses of running a business and maintaining its operations are large and one of the biggest expenses is the salaries. Society consists of people and their existence as a whole. Businesses responsibility towards society is to provide employment the people, eliminate all forms of discrimination, invest money into recycling and avoiding pollution and many other things society benefits of businesses that turn profit. It’s a relationship that is co dependable and in order for society to grow and exist, companies need to be functioning and profitable. Society or people work in favor of business. People invest time and energy to make the business profitable so in turn we can say that society invests into making a business profitable in order to maintain life. This is truer in the world we are in today. Employment is especially necessary in today’s society in order to survive. Every job is a part of some business and if the companies that employ us are profitable, then the circle of life can continue.
