Nowadays many students prefer to get higher education by studying abroad. They feels that by studying abroad will brings them prestige in their home country and leads to a better job. But, studying abroad does brings disadvantages for students in terms of culture shock, costly expenses and not safety.

When studying abroad, students who are not used to be away from home will face unfamiliar environment where mostly will facing ‘culture shock’. The people, lifestyle and living environment are different from local country. For example, US students are more open in their social life. Hugging and kissing when greeting people are norms to them. They are also usually more out spoken regarding a matter and they will not hesitate to voice out their opinion or dissatisfaction whenever they feel the things is not rights.

Besides that, study in foreign country is more costly rather than studying in local country. Students need to spend lots of money for their accommodation, study and daily expenses. Most people think that they can find a job and work while studying abroad. In reality, it is not that easy for international students to get a job in most country because they don’t allow foreigners to work in their country.

Other disadvantage of studying abroad is because of unpredictable natural disaster. Country like Indonesia does experience natural disaster like volcanic eruption. This is because of the geographical area itself. So, there is no safety for students to studies in the country that have natural disaster.

In conclusion, I can say that yes I agree that it is better for students to continue their study in local country rather than studying abroad based on several point stated above.
