Ancient Times

As humans, the first settlements and civilizations have led us to our modern day by adapting to different and difficult challenges not to mention opportunities that we are all given to today. All around the world from BP, BCE, CE and present time there has been many environmental, cultural and religious changes within our society that have made history where it stands today. Some of these changes have been the role of women in society, the writing system agricultural challenges.

The role of women in society is cautionary. There was not a lot of respect for women back then and although they should be treated just as important as men. In ancient Rome women were not able to vote or hold political office. Onayemi explains, “The stereotypical woman in these societies is frail, fragile, vulnerable, untrustworthy, stupid or underdeveloped, or someone who must be aided, assisted and provided for - unfit for political power”. One thing with the Roman women they were able to provide was religious views and was called Vestals. They were able to marry and have children but the Vestals had to devote themselves to the study of the religion. Women were to marry as teenagers and an aristocratic girl was expected to be a virgin when wed. Now days these rules and regulations have been changed all around the world that women have to hold such little title. Women in our society now are equal to if not some hold higher titles due to their responsibilities within their job title. Women have gone into political office and military personnel.

Around the fourth millennium BCE, clay tablets came into place where civilians would record data also known as cuneiform. The Sumerians were able to record economic transactions, religious mythology, hymns and other religious details for future generations.
