I. INTRODUCTION

1. Background of the Study

The term simulation is used in different ways by different people and authors. For one of those, simulation is defined as the process of creating a model (i.e., an abstract representation or facsimile) of an existing or proposed system (e.g., a factory, a business, a forest, the organs in human body) in order to identify and understand those factors which control the system and to predict (forecast) the future behavior of the system. Almost the system which can be described quantitatively can be simulated.

The underlying purpose of simulation is to shed light on the underlying mechanisms that control the behavior of a system. The simulation model will provide important key points on the interested process, the output such as capacity utilization and throughput results will help to evaluate the efficiency of resources, design the process following the lean principles as well as avoid wastage. For those systems which is highly automated, simulation is able to show the phenomena occurring due to many simultaneous processes. Since the variables of a process are well identified by simulation, firms and companies can have proactive actions instead of trying to act with unidentified bottlenecks. Moreover, complex systems are often controlled by software such as material flow computers. Commissioning of simulation software with a simulation model clearly provides the opportunity to test and optimize the control even before the real system is completed. Simulation can also serve as an operative planning tool in many field such as manufacturing...
