Cruelty to animals, also called animal abuse or animal neglect, is the infliction of suffering or harm upon non-human animals, for purposes other than self-defence. More narrowly, it can be harm for specific gain, such as killing animals for food or for their fur, although opinions differ with respect to the method of slaughter. It usually encompasses inflicting harm for personal amusement or to fulfil zoo sadistic impulses. Diverging viewpoints are held by jurisdictions throughout the world | We’ve all seen the pictures heard the stories. What people don’t realize is the penalty. If a human had their legs and shoulders broken with a crowbar then was bashed in the head and violently kicked in the stomach you would be looking at vicious assault charges. These charges range from Assault under the Summary Offences Act with a maximum penalty of three months in prison to charges that have escalated in severity to Intentionally Causing Serious Injury which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. | But if the person was to come back a few hours later and jam the crowbar through the person’s skull, then just to top it off put them in a body bag and threw them in a trailer where that remained for a week or so before being taken to the tip. The penalty would be life in prison. All of this happened to a 8 month old cattle dog pup after Geoffrey Carberry had a disagreement with his girlfriend, he decided to take it out on her puppy |
