Journals are publications that contain articles on current research. The purpose of the articles is to explain details about the author’s research, findings, and conclusions. Journal articles provide up-to-date information and supporting evidence for assignments. The subject of this paper pertains to three peer-reviewed article summaries that address topics for further investigation in Week Six of this course.

Zuckerman, D., & Sayre, D. (1988). Cultural Sex Role Expectations and Children's Sex Role Concepts. Sex Roles: A Journal of Research, 8(8), 853-862.

This article explained research on sex-role attitudes and how culture has influenced the sex-role concept of children. The researchers interviewed middle-class children between the ages of 4 and 8 about their sex-role attitudes. The children were asked about their career goals, career choices as the opposite sex, and why they like being a boy or girl. Other factors discussed in this research include the parents’ employment status, education, career, and sex-role status. This research demonstrated that these young children expressed traditional attitudes for appropriate sex-role behavior. The information is interesting to review because most people are not aware of the capabilities of the intelligence found in young children.
