The case study of social media by Kaplan and Haenlein reviewed about what it is actually the “Social Media”means and the evolution of social media brought many challenges and chances for firms and organizations all of the world. It also mentioned that 10 lists of recommendations for companies which decide to use social media networkings and who want to engage in social media usage today.

This article only published in 2010, however, it has already 100 citations in the Scopus database and about 400 citations in Google Scholar(scopus research,2013). Therefor, "Users of the World Unite" is on its best way towards becoming a seminal paper in the area of social media. Kaplan and Haenlein contend that social media as we know it today can perhaps be traced back more than twenty years. However, it was not complicated by today’s standards, users could post public news on sites such as User Generated Content.

I was rather curious with the term collaborative projects that the case study was mentioning. I came to realize after some research, collaborative projects are now called actions,such as research and innovation action, innovation action, coordination and support action(Proideal plus,2013).

Most interestingly, Kaplan and Haenlein further argue that the development of a systematic classification scheme for social media can be tough, as new sites appear every day. As mentioned in the article, they rely on the field of media research and have decided that social media have two key elements that can be used to classify them to some extent: social presence, media richness on the one hand, and self-presentation, self-disclosure on the other. It demonstrates that how distinct types of social media involve different commitments from the user.
