A: Why have women been increasingly eager to move into men’s occupation? Why do u think men generally show less enthusiasm about moving into women’s occupation?

Women are less concentrated in office and administrative support occupation, and women increased their representation in professional jobs by more than men did. They are also much more likely to be in the management, business, and financial operations occupation than they were in the past. Women considerably more likely than men to be elementary and middle school teachers, and those jobs are in the education industry. These differences in distribution by industry reflect gender differences in occupations. Men were more heavily concentrated in the areas of construction, manufacturing, and transportation.

B: What are the main economic factors that underlie the decision to invest in a college education?

People consider the pecuniary costs and benefits of investing in education. If the person goes on to college, he will incur out of pocket expenses on tuition and books fee per year which is negative earnings. The investment in a college education is believed to increase the person productivity. College graduates acquire more training informally on the job as well as formally in school. There are may have two costs, one is direct costs which are expenditures on items such as tuition, fees, and books. Less obvious, but no less important than direct costs, are the earnings forgone during the time an individual is in school. Other is indirect costs which correspond to the opportunity costs of time spent in schooling. The gross benefits of a college education are equal to the excess of the expected earnings of a college graduate over those of a high school graduate over the individual’s work life.
