Abstract

In this paper our objective is to discuss the positive outcomes of teamwork and working in groups. Team work comprises of all participants collaboratively working together to complete a goal or task. We will discuss why it is important to have effective communication, a willingness to be open, and having an effective leadership in-order to communicate openly and manage time when working in groups.

In this paper our objective is to discuss the positive outcomes of teamwork and working in groups. In the opening article, The Team Working Together, Michael Jordan is quoted, “Talent wins games but teamwork wins championships.” This quote defines what teamwork encompasses. Team work is not a one way street. Conflicts will arise and in order to resolve these conflicts effective communication must take place. This is why the willingness to be open and share thoughts is imperative. In the article, The Team Working Together (page 174) Karvelas states “Trust creates the pathway to open communication.” Once you have built trust and opened the pathway your one way street is now a two way street. This will allow the team to communicate effectively.

According to the Oxford English Dictionary found on the University of Phoenix website library, there are approximately 272,856 words in the English language. To succeed in all aspects of life, you must be able to work in groups. We will discuss why this statement is true by responding to the following topics:
