Crisis Communication Simulation Graded Exercise

Description:

This is a graded simulation exercise. Each group shall be given a pair group. The pair group will tackle a live case where each one acts as opposing stakeholders. The interests of each group/ stakeholder shall be defined in this note, depending on the case assignment.

Performance in the exercise shall be part of the oral presentation (20%) final grade.

Objective:

1. To provide first hand experience of a crisis situation

2. To identify and understand the dynamics and various approaches of crisis communication

3. To understand the concerns of various stakeholders and risks during crisis and learn how to develop concrete action points

Venue: Yuchengco, 407

Dates: October 19 and 21

Time: 4:20 to 7:30 (there shall be a 5 minute break after each presentation)

Rules:

1. Participating groups shall be given 25 minutes to conduct the simulation.

2. Each group must provide accomplish pre-exercise and post exercise requirements

3. Stakeholder assignment shall be identified in each case

4. Members of each group are expected to advocate their assigned stakeholder role and will be graded based on the proficiency of their defense/ offense.

5. Observer groups shall grade/ rank all participating groups.

a. Grades shall be via forced ranking

b. Last ranked group (and all of its members) shall automatically get a failing grade for the exercise. Peer rating shall be 50% of the basis for grading/ ranking; while the other 50% shall be made by the professors/ external judges

c. Grading system for the forced ranking shall be as follows:
