SWOT Analysis

Strength

The strength of UWSENE is the used of Balance Scorecard (BSC) as performance measurements have improved the quality management and internal control of the organization. Besides, the company also applied employee empowerment concept as the employees involve in the process of forming the BSC. This idea will provide a broad understanding in each levels or departments.

Weaknesses

The change of the president for UWSENE is the main weakness of the company. Since the president is new, there is doubt in terms of the acceptance of the BSC. If the new president rejects the BSC, it will be cost to the company as they have invested to implement the strategies designed from the BSC. Besides, there are some people in the organization unwilling to participate to make changes by applying BSC. This factor has become one of the weaknesses to the organizations because to ensure the successfulness of the implementation of BSC requires 100 per cent attention and support from the organization’s members.

Opportunity

One of the opportunities for UWSENE is the company won the Bronze Award in the United Way national competition for Excellence in Service Quality Award. This event will increase the company’s reputation which will attract additional funding. Another opportunity is people are more conscious about donating activities besides the increment in substance abuse, homelessness, and war.

Threat

The same threat that is faced by the profit organizations which is increase in completion also happens to UWSENE where there is constant rising of other non-profit organizations like Salvation Army and Feed the Children. Besides, the organizations like hospitals, colleges, and the arts had expanded their fund-raising capabilities which limit the number of donor contribution.
