The appropriate setup for two routers to route to one another would be to use a static IP Address. A dynamic IP Address would not function properly in this particular scenario. Purely because any time you reset your modem or router your routers would obtain a new IP address or once the lease expires you would have to renew it. Thus making it impossible to properly setup IP routes being that the ports would be the same but the IP address would vary and you would never be able to tell which IP address it would be forwarding the route to. Static IP Address are most common in business and in my personal opinion should always be used, I would also prefer if some home venders would allow you to use a static IP address however that is not likely to happen. It would certainly make remote access to my office material more secure and more reliable if I need to access something from my home computer or access something from my work computer. With static IP Addresses you are able to route any particular port from the WAN to an Internal LAN. This comes in handy when dealing with DVRS and other equipment that requires specific remote access. However with DDNS emerging the need for static IP addresses is changing. But, my personal preference would be to stick with a static IP being that you have trouble with windows Simple DNS bound to have more problems with DDNS instead of just trying to key in the IP address to gain access.
