This is an analysis of organizational behaviour on Hickling Associates Ltd. Tony Azzara was hired by Hickling Associates Ltd. after he lost his job from Pisces Exporters Ltd. due to financial troubles and an economic downturn in the fresh and frozen seafood market in Europe. With many good years at his previous employer Pisces Exporters Ltd. Tony could not have predicted the issues working for Hickling Associates Ltd. There were three major issues which were the lack of communication, poor environment and no motivation. These issues are discussed further along with concepts and solutions.

The first major issue is there was no communication from Mr. Hickling. The receptionist was not made aware of Tony being hired. Tony was not able to ask or get any information from Mr. Hickling in regards to a few company policies and how to approach certain items on his agenda. Even the other traders were not sure as they all had different opinions. Another issue of communication was the lack of Role Perception. Tony did not know about procedures and forms and was uncertain of technical procedures and the extent of his authority. In addition there was no reinforcement through feedback. No feedback was given from Mr. Hickling on Tony’s job performance. Even though Tony had an idea of what he should do and did a good job, with feedback he could have possibly done even better. The last issue was that Tony was disappointed with his two bonuses. Since Tony’s and Mr. Hickling’s initial meeting there was no contract to enforce what was promised or talked about in that meeting. The solutions to these issues are that there should have been a contract from the beginning to state everything that was agreed upon in the initial meeting with a bonus structure. It should also include a list of job duties and expectations but not limited to.
