Abstract
This study explores the stage of adoption of information technology (IT) and especially the association among organizational factors, barriers for nationwide EMR(electronic medical records) adoption and facilitators of EHR (electronic health records) implementation in hospitals. Results suggest that most of hospitals here in the Netherlands have adopted a basic system. The most cited barriers in the hospitals with a higher level of adoption are: lack of financial incentives, lack of IT requirements, lack of technical support and lack of IT training. Results also show that hospitals’ IT adoption to be positively associated with hospital size and ownership.
