The Middle Eastern cultures are stricter than what most people is use too. In the Middle East, their religion dictates their everyday life and the every decision they make. Their rules may seem strict to people who do not follow their faith, but to them it is their way of life.

In the Middle East, they mainly practice three religions; Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Christianity originated from Judaism, yet the Christian community does not follow the same rules as the Jewish community. Judaism has a more detailed way of life, which they follow from the Torah. The strictest of the three religions though is Islam. The Islamic faith governs their follower’s faith, diet, and everyday life with the five pillars. Islam has specific prayer times, times for fasting, and believes everyone should make a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in his or her life. (Religion, n.d.)

The social customs of traditionalists are arranged marriages, family oriented, and considers men as head of the household. Family is important in the Middle East, and they normally socialize within the extended family. In a traditional home, the men are the head of the household and make the majority of the decisions for the family. Once children become older, they help provide for family members in need of money.

Health practices in the Middle Eastern communities incorporate their religion. They try to live a healthy life style by controlling their diet and hygiene. On top of believing their faith will help heal them, they also believe in modern medicine. They will seek medical attention when they are ill, but will also keep the faith that their God will help bring a healthy recovery.

People residing in the Middle East normally keep to themselves. They do not like to share personal information to people outside of the family, and at times could feel embarrassed if private information were to leak out to those in their community.
