Criminal activities are constantly on the rise, it has increased by 1.9 % according to Timothy Williams of the New York Times. (June 3, 2013) The newest strategies to commit crime and terror have increased through cybercrimes. With the daily growth of Internet users hooked on this new wave of technology called the World Wide Web these crimes have become a prevalent problem, with easy and undetected access to unlimited amount of privileged information. Cybercrimes have caused the loss of millions of dollars to both businesses and consumers, while leaving others to clear and clean up their now violated names. Granted cybercrimes are hard to detect and violate privacy, steal identities and more, these crimes affect people in more ways than one. With identity theft on the rise, and cybercrimes on social media, the sales of illegal articles including pornography, there is a need to identify the different types of cybercrimes because of the negative effect they have on society.

Cybercrimes include a varied amount of activities; however, they are not easily detected simply because there are so many different ways that this crime presents itself. Cybercrimes are described as attacks for the information of people, government, as well as corporations. Perpetrators of this type of crimes can live on another continent, yet still create havoc in a totally different country. A new form of this increasing menace is evident in almost every corner of the world. It is indeed alarming just how many ways this new wave of crime is implemented. The Internet is one of the places where cybercrimes is committed most often. Cybercrimes can breach privacy both personal and corporate; these crimes steal information digitally and sometimes use the information against companies or people for financial gain.
