The Backbone of Parenting

Mothers are the backbone of most parenting relationships. Mothers step up to the challenge when the bond of motherhood is formed in her womb. Although some women raise the child alone, none of them made the child by themselves. A mother becomes the better parent out of necessity in some situations. Women, who do not have to do the job alone, will most likely become the better and more favored parent.

Stay at home moms are the better parent because they are at home with the children all day. Even if the father does everything right, the mother will be favored. The children see their father early in the morning and later that day closer to dinner. While the father is gone all day, he is out of sight and out of mind. The mother makes them breakfast, does the dishes, cleans them up, plays with them all day and kisses the injuries from playing. How can a father compete with that? He can’t. Because, when he gets home from work he must discipline the children if they were naughty that day. So the children see him as more of a provider than a parent. The father pays the bills but the mother raises the child.

As soon as a woman becomes pregnant she begins to form a bond with her child. This bond causes the mother to feel the need to protect and love that child with everything she has. It is far less common for a mother to abandon her child than it is for a man to do the same. This is why you see many single mothers and rarely any single fathers. Fathers do not have the same bond with their children. They may love them and want to do everything to be a great father. But the father doesn’t know what it is like to feel a child grow inside of him with each passing day over the nine month pregnancy. I can always remember how my mom treated me as a child and the connection her and I had. I am her baby boy and I can do no wrong.
