What Should We Do?

Before I start, I would like to tell you that I’m not going to state here the meaning of climate change and elaborate it because I know that Ms. Luzon already knows everything about it, and that my block mates would probably do something like that. I want to be unique, I want to be different. So instead, I will be telling you what I believe we should do when facing the effects of climate change.

I believe that climate change is a natural occurring event. It is not caused by human. It is just a cycle that the earth goes through. Can we stop climate change? I believe that it is already too late to stop climate change. Decades have already passed with the effects of climate change happening. We might not be able to stop it, but we can prevent it from getting worse. It’s something that we can’t repair anymore. I believe that we should do something to decrease the effects, because everyone is vulnerable to climate change, “bata man o matanda, may ngipin man o wala”. We should especially think of the people who suffer from poor health that will also be affected by it.

I believe that we should prepare for the effects of climate change. What things should we be alert for? Rising seas, droughts, the ecosystem, and even our health! Rising seas is really lethal because it can make floods more severe. Floods that destroy the houses of the poor, and floods that can kill thousands of people. Drought can be triggered by the evaporation from land to water because of the high temperature. Just think of the people who already suffer dehydration, and now will be affected by drought. The plants and animals on our ecosystem are having difficult time to adapt because the changes are happening really fast. The changes that happens on our ecosystem affects us humans too, because the ecosystem is the one that gives us our food, and water. We should really take care of our health because life is precious.
