NARRATIVE REPORT

The On-The-Job Training of students helps a lot in their course specifically on a actual or application of how a building or road are constructed as Civil Engineering students. This summer class students in Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering have undergone in this training. We’re expecting that they will gain knowledge from those experiences that they might encounter. Excitement and nervousness are those feelings that are dominating in their hearts but still being courageous was better. A book said that “Courage is not the absence of fear but it is fighting in spite of fear”.

The day before our reporting to our company, I was preparing for some knowledge that I can earn in the internet that I can’t get in the university. Some videos about foundation , walls, columns, beams, roof and all about engineering works. But application and actual practice is the best than mere reading and viewing. We are also scheduled in different sites that our company will be constructing. We’re divided into 6 groups on different sites in rotation basis (2-day rotation).

On the day we started our training, we are assigned to go to new Sta. Barbara Municipal hall. The construction is on-going. Construction workers are working on the second floor of the building. Workers are doing their own work that was assigned by the foreman or lead man base from their expertise. Simultaneously, they are working so that they might get their target day to be finish. Some of the workers are installing reinforcement, fabricating those stirrups, lateral ties, columns and beam reinforcements, installing and removing of scaffolding and forms, and concreting of columns in second floor.

The next site was Bayambang New Public Market, we observed for two days, they working in the installation of electrical wires, pipings, and junction box. They are focusing on its finishing because the building is near to its opening. The building was being started four years ago. Some works for...
