Dear Khaled Hosseini,

Let me start by saying, The Kite Runner has become one of my favorite books. I enjoyed every second of reading your novel. I loved the way that each character had its own set of different personality traits. You developed the characters into the novel very well. There were characters that I instantly liked, and characters that I instantly hated (Assef).

The storyline was incredible. It was a depressing, yet uplifting plot. It all seemed very true because you made the novel parallel to what was actually happening in history. I love when authors write fiction novels that occur during history that actually happened. I loved reading about Amir’s life. It was enjoyable for me to see him as an immature child, and then watch him grow up and seek redemption. Half way through the book, I thought it could have been over already. It was exciting for me to know that I still had more of the story to come even though I thought it could have been the ending of the novel. There was never a slow, boring part in the book. I enjoyed reading it the entire time.

Even though I have never really had to deal with the situations that the characters went through, I still felt as if I could relate to them. It was easy to relate to Hassan and Amir’s friendship. Any time that somebody could let a friend down, it would reflect Amir. If someone reading was the loyal friend, who would do anything for the other person, he or she would reflect Hassan. The lives that the characters lived could relate to anybody. Whether someone is a child that seeks his or her parent’s love and attention, or if someone has a secret that defines who he or she is. I personally can’t relate the entire book to my life. But, there are bits and pieces here and there that made me feel like I was part of the book; I understood the feelings the characters were going through. I felt like I could relate to the characters mostly because you did a great job at portraying their feelings.
