My High School is A Cultural Bouillabaisse.

Cultural bouillabaisse is another word for diversity. Cultural bouillabaisse is another term that can be described as a melting pot. This is because just like soup you have many different ingredients and in this instance society is the water and the people are the ingredients. Through this blending we get diversity but at the same time we get a blending of cultures, hence the idea of a melting pot. My high school can be seen as a cultural bouillabaisse because it has a lot of blended diversity. There are many reasons why my high school can be considered as a cultural bouillabaisse and language, festivities and organizations are some.

My high school is a cultural bouillabaisse because of its language. Language is a way that a person uses to communicate and interact with one another. My high school provided bi-lingual education for students with English as a second language. Bi-lingual education provided the students to better assimilate themselves into an English only class. This was by teaching them in their language and slowly transitioning to English. Another way why my high school was considered a cultural bouillabaisse was because it was a center for language. Therefore my high school provided classes such as Latin, Arabic, Japanese, Italian, German, Russian, and Spanish. By giving the students a greater choice in languages they also gave greater diversity. By learning a different language you also learn the culture and customs that are intertwined in the language.

My high school is a cultural bouillabaisse because of its festivals. My high school in a sense celebrated diversity by educating the students about the people that were involved in certain celebrations. Also by discussing the events leading to and the events that were held after this historical event happened. Examples would be black history month, Cinco de Mayo, and Native American History month.
