Submission of report on “HBR Case Study: We Googled You”
I am presenting a report on the case entitled ‘We Googled You’ as part of the Written Aspects of Communication Course.
The report explores the dilemma that Fred Matten is into and the possible choices ahead of him. These have been analysed in accordance with the criteria identified, and I am submitting it for consideration.

Executive Summary
The report deals with the decision that is in front of Fred Westen, the CEO of Hathaway Jones. On one hand he has found an excellent candidate in his friend John’s daughter, Mimi, who could lead the company’s expansion plan in China. While on the other hand there are these old reports regarding Mimi’s protests against the Chinese government, which could possibly have some negative future implications. The report analyses the various criteria that has been indentified like the chances of a successful expansion, risk to the company’s image, probability of finding an equivalent candidate and the relationship between Fred and his friend John. After exploring through all the possibilities, it has been found, that it is best to appoint a third party who could accurately evaluate the legal/political implications of hiring Mimi. Fred Westen can take a decision based on the recommendations of the third party.
Situational Analysis
The case talks about the dilemma in which Fred Westen, the CEO of Hathaway Jones, a luxury apparel retailer has got into. It started when his old pal John asked Fred, if his daughter Mimi, could be a part of his company’s planned expansion into China.
