“PARTS OF OUR HOUSE ARE PART OF MY LIFE”
Someone asked me, can I consider my house a home. Because of that question, there are a lot of ideas cross in my mind. Based on what I have read the English word “House” derives directly from the Old English “Hus” meaning “dwelling, shelter, home, and house”. A house is a building for human habitation especially one that is lived in by a family or small group of people. A home is a place of residence or refuge and it is generally a placed to provide safety and is used as a center from which people based their daily activities. There is a saying that “A house is not a home”, this quote is the differentiation of two words, house and home, that are used synonymously. In the literal sense of the word, a house is a physical structure where humans, animals, and plants life subside. A home is the experience, ambiance, and character provided by people, household items, animals and events inside the home. In the phrase “a house is not a home”, the author was more than likely attempting to convey the idea of a physical structure in which to live does not mean that one will have the full satisfaction at “home” without the aforementioned tangible items and intangible events. A house is a physical structure while a home is feeling that is associated wit he physical structure of the house.
Our house is just a regular old building where we stay in. In our house we do have our own home which is the connection of our family, safety and our little sanctuary. I believe that a happy home is not just a roof cover one’s head; it is a foundation under one’s feet.
