With the growth of internet technology online classes have become increasingly popular. Online classes involve computer enhanced learning information and studying materials from computers and internet connection. Computers have become widely used in all levels of education. It is now possible for students to earn their entire degree through online courses. Online classes are beneficial to students of all ages, allowing them to take classes when it is most convenient for them.

The surge in popularity of online classes has forced many traditional universities to consider adding an online program to their curriculum. The addition of an online program is not an easy task and one that must be weighed carefully. Some universities may determine that their infrastructure cannot handle the addition of an online program and others may be ready for the change and growth that may come.

While the addition of an online program can be an expensive endeavor, if implemented successfully it can offer many rewards. Offering online classes enables universities to reach a larger spectrum of potential students. Students that live too far away from campus or whose schedules prevent them from attending traditional classes now have the ability to take online courses. Regular in-person classes may fall at a time when the student is at work or has family or other obligations. But online courses can be attended in the middle of the night or early morning or on the weekend or while they are at work or any other time of day or night. They also can be attended from the comfort of their home or office or anywhere with an internet connection and a computer. This lets people who live much too far away from a college campus to attend classes without having to move or have a long commute.
