What is the importance of writing, both academically and professionally?

Writing is important both academically and professionally because in both you have to be able to get your point across to where people can understand what you are saying and you need to be able to express your opinions in a way that are understood. Professionally writing is important in order to even get your foot in the door in some careers. Academically writing is important in order to ask the questions properly to your classmates and teacher. It is also important so that your teacher can understand your work and what you are trying to say.

• Why is integrity important in writing?

Integrity is important in writing because you honesty is always the best policy in anything you do. Plagiarism is a big thing in writing and if you have integrity that will help you to avoid plagiarism. Trust is also a big issue, you do not want to use someone else’s work and call it your own, that would be dishonest, and could get you into a lot of trouble. Integrity means being honest and trustworthy in writing that is important to other people also, so that they know you will not use their papers for your own.

• How can you avoid plagiarism?

I can avoid plagiarism by making sure I use my own words, by making sure I use proper citation and references and put them in the proper places, by using quotation marks, when needed, and in the proper places. I will make sure I use the plagiarism checker. I will be sure to give myself plenty of time to do my work, so that I do not have to rush through writing my papers and avoid mistakes, like accidental plagiarism. I will remind myself of what can happen if I do plagiarize on a paper. I will do everything that I can not to commit plagiarism
