A total of three actors

C. Who are the chorus?

They are a group of men who sing and dance in unison. They represent the collective voice of the community.

D. How many plays did Sophocles write? How many have survived?

Wrote 80 plays, only 7 have survived.

F. What is Orchestra?

A Dancing space where chorus would sing, dance, and interact with the actors

G. What is Skene?

A building directly behind the stage

H. What served as a mouth piece that amplified the actors' voice?

The shape of the mask amplified the actor’s voice making their words easier for the audience to hear.

J. What is Parados and Exodus?

Parados is a passage way, exodus is the departure of the chorus.

Task 2.

1. Describe the plague in Thebes.

The plague in Thebes started from Apollo sending it upon the city. They has unwittingly have been harboring the murderer of Laius for several years.

2. What is the confrontation between Teiresias and Oedipus?

Oedipus wants to know who killed his wife’s husband, Lauis. He sends for Teiresias to get help as how to find the killer, but the news he receives isn’t what he expected. At first Teiresias is reluctant to give him the information, knowing that he is the true murderer. Oedipus begs the wise old blind man for his knowledge; still not getting the information he threatens to bean the truth out of him. The old man finally tells him, and Oedipus is in an outrage.

3. Why does Jocasta think Oedipus should not be worried about prophets and prophesies? What's the example she gives to support her argument?

Oedipus tells Jocasta about what the prophet told him. Jocasta tells Oedipus not to worry about oracles because they aren’t always right. She explains to him that when she and Laius had once been sent an oracle that their child would kill his father. They had gotten rid...
