Introduction

Employee motivation is an important function for any organization seeking to succeed in its niche of operations. Organizations or businesses hire people and get them to work together in one team and realize business goals in the best manner possible. Many problems in an organization are caused by two fundamental things. Firstly, employee who is not able to perform according procedures set by company using their skills (Agrawal, 2010). Secondly, not able to perform according to set duties and responsibilities correctly. This illustrating that an organization needs people to achieve its goals. Therefore, for people to perform effectively and efficiently employee motivation is important in all elements, in the workplace. Employee motivation is one of the most tasking duty and responsibility for managers because managers have to realize that, within the team of employees. In a team there are individuals who have wants, needs and own beliefs. Therefore, in this essay research is carried out to find out the best way managers can achieve employee motivation through understanding available theories of motivation to help managers handle difficulties of motivation in the workplace.

Employee Motivation Problems at a Workplace

Any workplace is faced by two problems namely; individual professional skills and the individual’s role and duty in a workplace, discipline and the attitude of employees towards work. The first problem that is connected to not being to perform a task can be rooted from a past or current misunderstanding between a staff member and employer. In addition, it can be in a case where there is the principal-agent relationship a manager can be involved in an employee to manager misunderstanding (Agrawal, 2010).
