The Open Boat

“None of them knew the color of the sky.” This is the first sentence of Stephen Crane’s “The Open Boat” implies the overall relationship between the individual and nature. Now the question is where is God in this story? I believe that god is everywhere in this story, as these men in this boat are out in nature, which is where God is. These four men who lost their ship in a wreck are out in the sea in an open boat and are concentrating on the danger they are in that they are unaware to everything else. They were all so scared sitting in the dinghy. The tide changed forcing them in another direction, and the oiler was able to get the dinghy back on course and seen suddenly a man on shore, and they were all amazed by what they seen. The men swam toward the shore and when they finally reached land they were so happy to have gotten on shore....
