Since love is erotic and platonic, it completely changed the life of Ekindu. Ekindu turned into a simple nobleman from a wild and Gilgamesh from a bully and tyrant into an exemplary and majestic king. Both the friends were evenly matched, Ekindu used to take care of Gilgamesh restlessness, powerful energies, whereas Gilgamesh pulls him out of his self centered will. Their friendship made Gilgamesh a better man in the first half of the epic, but after the death of ekindu, his grief and terror turned him into a futile person.

This epic does not have any female interested, but friendship also plays an important role. After the death of the Ekindu Goddess of Love Ishtar came into the life of Gilgamesh and finally, when he realized his place on earth and returned to Uruk to resume his kingship Ishtar returned to his place of honor (Goolsby, 2012). After considering the theme of death with the tandem in the poem, we can view love and friendship not only as a part of life, but a component which is essential to provide meaning to the existence.

With this it is to be noticed that the love has a very bearing effect on every human being. Love has the power to even change a cruel person to a soft person. Love has the ability to transform a person easily. For instance, we can consider an example of the old age homes where older people are treated with love and affection which results in better treatment and care.

In this context Gilgamesh learned an important lesson that death is an inescapable part of life and only gods can live forever when Ekindu warns him of his fight from Humbaba.
