Adjusting to Terrorism

In the criminal justice field there remains a steady focus on the fight against the dangers of terrorism. In order to thoroughly combat terrorism personnel within the criminal justice field should be skilled and educated on all aspects of possible terrorist activities. Also as an effective way to combat terrorism is through the assistance of legislation along with the creation of a thoroughly developed budget plan. In this paper will include my proposal for an administrative change to the criminal justice agency in the effort it will create a more effective way to combat terrorism. Also described will be the prior situation, reasons for the change, and the potential positive and negative consequences from this change. Lastly, identified will be the required resources and the changes the agency would need.

Administrative Change Proposal

On September 11, 2001 the United States was left feeling defenseless as a direct result of terrorism. The effects of this attack led to the development of various agencies to include the Department of Homeland Security for the purpose of stopping acts of terrorism. Among the other agencies that work side by side include the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), National Security Agency (NSA), and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) help in providing against the threat of terrorist attacks on American soil. However with the criminal justice field the job of law enforcement agencies in the protection of American citizens is not a liability when dealing with terrorist attacks for those they are sworn to protect. It is my proposal that a program for law enforcement agencies should be made that will enable those officers involved in helping provide other countries with the assistance in the fight against terrorism.
