Cm107-36 Unit 2 Assignment

Honestly, I have no idea what my goals are as a writer. I know that writing will play a big part in my future career as well as my life. I know my strengths are paying attention to details, being able to spot incorrect grammar or use of punctuations in someone else writing. I know there are a lot of things that I will need to relearn since I have been out of school for a long time such as using citations, references, and how to convey my thoughts onto paper.

I really don’t remember learning how to use citations or references when I took English I high school. I look through the KU Writing Center and it holds so much information that it scares me.

Even though I am able to spot when another person uses incorrect grammar or punctuation, I too have problems with these. I am always using spell check which is not the best option to depend on. I have trouble using past tense words or knowing when to use a comma or not. Another one of my weaknesses is using references. Exactly when or how do you use them? I read the information available in the writing center but I just confused myself. Sometimes things need to be dumb down a bit for me to understand exactly the correct way to use them.

I’m a quick learner and I know once I understand how to use citations, references, and how to convey my thoughts so I will never forget it. I will continue to read all the helpful documents in the KU Writing Center. I will listening to some of the podcast or attend some of the workshops that they have available. I will take constructive feedback from my professor and fellow students and apply them towards my writing. I will not be afraid to ask questions if I do not understand an assignment or what the professor is looking for in the discussion.

Even though I do not have a set goals to become a better writer at this moment in time, I know that my weaknesses and strengths will teach me how to become a better writer and provide me skills that I will use throughout my career...
