Summary

In this book, the Entwistle explains why psychology and Christianity should have an integrative. It is very difficult to integrate two subjects with assumed different founding values. Since there is not a single definition for integrative, in this summary it is to unify separate subjects for parallel use. With trying to merge Christianity and psychology, Entwistle demonstrates that there are many theories involved that shapes opinion. The elements he implicates with merging Christianity and psychology are worldviews, philosophical foundations, and different models of integration (Entwistle, 2010). Even with these elements and their various findings, factors are revealed that answer why the integration of psychology and Christianity face challenges.

Philosophical foundation is the results of worldviews. Both psychologists and theologians have studied to understand the core reason their practice or belief is notable. This principle establishes worldview; a belief or assumption that creates the framework a person’s view (Entwistle, 2010). When a theologian is asked to give a worldview of a subject, the answer would be Christian based and found on the fall of man. If a psychologist is asked the same questions, the answer would be scientific based and founded on evidence. These are very broad views from different backgrounds. According to the theories referenced in the book, these views are reasons why the two worldviews should be integrated.

Metaphysics is another area that influences worldview, which is a broad explanation of the world that raises agreements and questions.
