Case Analysis: THE SUPERVISOR

It's surely not so easy to be a good supervisor because you have to manage so many things and to deal with a lot of people, including your employees. In my opinion, the most important qualities a good supervisor should have are discretion, finesse and impartiality.

Since a supervisor is usually responsible for a company, project, or business, etc., she will certainly meet many difficulties and problems and require her to make correct decisions. Besides discretion, I think a good supervisor should have finesse and impartiality. Usually a supervisor will supervise several employees. It is common there is some conflict of interest among the employees. How to make the employees get along with one another well is a task for a good supervisor. Generally speaking, if a supervisor treats her employees impartially, she can reduce or avoid the conflict of interest among the employees and make them work hard.

As on the case of Karen Lowry a manager of a social service agency love to see her employees learn and grow to their potential. And when there is a rare opening for supervising clerk, Karen Lowry quickly decided to give Charlotte Hines a shot of the job. Because she is an employee with a sense of responsibility, she has proven her worth in the company. For me, job performance of an employee is very significant. But we have to follow the rules on regulations on the recruitment of an employee. Charlotte must undergo the process of recruitment for in fairness to other applicants.

The promotional exam is only a measure to know if they are familiar with the job. However, the exam should not be the only basis to measure if the employee is qualified for the job. Performance appraisal and contribution to agency must be considered.
