Bears Discover Fire Analytical Essay

The symbolism of the story Bears Discover Fire is important in how the general message and themes are expressed. The symbols can allows the reader the ability to see how human progression has flourished in comparison to others species on the planet. Also these symbols such as fire and the car are used to express the general theme of human expansion and show how humans have become the main leader of the world. The symbols the author chooses are also the dangerous things humans have messed. The symbols both can be used two ways because use fire in the wrong way and you can be burned or drive the car wrong and you can be seriously injured or can die.

At the beginning of the short story Uncle Bobby, his brother (the preacher), and his nephew are driving down the freeway in car when they get a flat tire and Uncle Bobby is able to fix the tire. The symbolism in this scene is the car that was built by humans showing progression on the man made freeway around the forest where the other species live. This allows the reader to feel a certain sense of accomplishment over the other species because we are able to create and innovate our ideas into reality. We are the most intellectual progressive specie on the planet and we put ourselves in charge because we are able to create new technology and

the ideas we are able to comprehend. At the end of the day we are just like the animals in our basic structure other then intelligence. Whether or not you have a belief in God, we have dominion over the animals and never would we expect an animal to have human like skills and thought process. If we as humans started to see other living creatures start to learn how to accomplish things that man has accomplished, then we would be afraid of these animals progressing further and taking over.
