Moving Towards Change

Charles Vitatoe

MT140-13: Introduction to Management

Professor James Young

November 18, 2013

Like many successful businesses, Sandwich Blitz Inc is experiencing growing pains. As their customer base continues to increase, new problems are emerging in trying to handle the increase in customer volume. One such area that has become a concern for both upper and lower management is the steady increase in errors in taking customer orders. This has lead both Dalman and Lei to initiate a new protocol to allow their customer to enter their own orders through the internet. To set this new protocol into place Dalman and Lei has decided to send out an email to all their middle managers communicating this new change in company procedures for their new online order taking system. Using the ideas presented by “Kotter’s Eight Steps to Leading Change” (Bateman & Snell, 2013, p.372) they have drafted the following email communication below.

Draft of Email Communication to be sent out all middle managers:

Important Notice to New Procedural Changes to Our Ordering Taking Systems

As you are all aware due to the recent increases in volume of our customer base, we have been receiving a lot of complaints concerning orders that have not met our customers’ expectations. This is not the time for our organization to challenge our customers’ perceptions about the quality and efficiency of our products and organization as we continue to expand into new markets.

To Take Effect Immediately

Due to this sudden increase in order errors and to minimize any further occurrences as much as possible to ensure the quality of Sandwich Blitz Inc.’s brand, I have decided to implement a new online ordering portal to allow our customer to enter their orders themselves at any time during any of our store locations’ operational hours.
