Causation and Correlation CheckPoint

The difference relating to causation and correlation remains extremely significant inside systematic thinking. Often dualistic perceptions become jumbled in the air, occasionally due to a confusion and added instance out of a craving to offer a reasonable description intended for a systematic opinion. As a result, it is extremely significant to be able to comprehend the distinction between the two concepts. Correlation is described by Merriam-Webster’s internet glossary as: “the state or relation of being correlated; specifically: a relation existing between phenomena or things or between mathematical or statistical variables which tend to vary, be associated, or occur together in a way not expected on the basis of chance alone’. Correlation exists as an association amongst one or many items that modify (various items or thoughts) which could be defined scientifically. Correlation signifies just how directly dual groups of material or facts can be connected.

Wealthy people are thin. This connection is that not all rich people are thin. The individuals who are slimmer may have a nutritionist or have good eating habits. They also may be on a regular exercise regimen.

People with long hair do better on audio memory tests. This would be an association as well. No association between the two.

Ice cream melts when heated. The association of these two goes together because when ice cream get to heat it melts so the two variables relate.

Students with fewer clothes perform worse on standardized tests. There is no association between these two. Having more clothes than another doesn’t mean you do better on a test or not.
