When it comes to management positions in a brand new department store such as Tanglewood, they should acquire talented people who can come in and have the KSAO’s already to complete their tasks required for the management positions. Hire Yourself or Outsource

Outsourcing would be beneficial towards Tanglewood, when outsourcing with the right vendor who is good at what they do can help consolidate your workforce. “Outsourcing has advantages for legal compliances, as many vendors maintain their own procedures for tracking compliance with equal-opportunity laws.” (Herbert G. Heneman lll, 2012) With Tanglewood being financially stable, I feel this would be a smart move, this way Tanglewood doesn’t have to worry about staffing and they can leave it to professionals.

External or Internal Hiring

When it comes to hiring internally and externally it kind of goes with my opinions on acquiring and developing talent. With a new store opening and multiple job openings it would be best to hire externally. With management positions there are two different methods I feel would work. One, you could hire externally for management, get someone with management experience. Two, you could hire internally by moving a manager from one Tanglewood store to the opening store, and at the old store move a shift leader into that management position. Doing the second option you would have a manager who knows the Tanglewood customs and values and can lead a new Tanglewood crew in the correct direction.
