Effects of Warfare and our Society

Abstract

The purpose of studying warfare is to summarize, and advance, the state of human understanding about war. Nothing can impact society like war. The nature of warfare can be researched by the development of weapons and defenses and war can be viewed as noble and just, or cruel and inhuman, as well as everything in between. War affects everyone in society whether they are fighting in a foreign country or waiting at home for a loved one to return. War is an indispensable part of civilization; found in every chapter of human history. It is the culmination of the basic survival instinct when provoked.

Introduction to the effects of warfare

This paper is written to help people understand the effects that war has created in a society.

This study will note that war can be fought in many different ways whether it is by land or sea, and all over our planet. It has destroyed entire nations and brought a society down in many different ways (Gascoine, 2001).

War is culture, and the hard reality is that people have formed expectations and assumptions about fighting (Lynn, 2004).

Wars break out for various reasons. There are wars between countries or nations and within the nation. The latter is generally known as a civil war and can occur as a result of differences based on race, religion and socio-economic dissatisfaction among others. Whether wars are waged between countries or inside the country between different sections of the communities, the effects are very damaging (Martz, 2003).

The main reasons or factors that contribute to wars are human greed for wealth and intolerance towards the other.
