Introduction

Women still suffer from receiving less pay for equal work. The answers to why women continue to make less are difficult to find and in research, more questions are raised. Because of the issues of the gender pay gap, this subject is very complex and not easy to understand. Furthermore, legislation is lacking in order to protect women from being discriminated against for their pay. Full time positions are not being made available for women, and the less educated a woman is, the bigger the pay gap increases. Women also have less mobility within their current employment and are unable to make more money because they cannot move up within their companies. Along the same lines, women of color are even less likely to receive equal pay for equal work as compared to Caucasian women. Because of this, women of color not only receive this discrimination, but are forced into poverty more quickly than Caucasian women. Women make less than men, are less protected legally, and minorities are affected even more concerning the gender pay gap.

Women in the Wage War

Decades after the feminist movement, women continue to make less than men on the average. Education and experience are some things that can set apart the two sexes, but with the same background, men tend to not only acquire the job, but are compensated one dollar to a woman’s seventy five to eighty five cents. Take men out of the equation and one still has a history of women not making much money.
