Night Chapters 1- 9 Dialectical Journal- Literary Devices

Students will set their journal up in order to record their findings. As the Night by Elie Wiesel progresses, students will be responsible for taking their own notes on their own time and submitted through Gaggle upon completion. Students will need to analyze 5 examples of literary devices (specifically figurative language) for each chapter. Students will need to create in-text citations for each direct quote. Type your information into the graphic organizer below. You must use a formal tone in your writing for your interpretation and analysis of the impact on tone and mood.

It is very important that you understand the difference between tone and mood. Here is a short video to help remind you of the differences between the two: Mood vs Tone

You may use this link to help you find examples of figurative language in the novel: Figurative Language Examples in Night . You will potentially have some of the same quotes, but you may NOT copy that full website. You may also review List of Tone and Mood Words and How to Interpret Figurative Language.
